Susie Reaches Out

Susie does not live in a big house on a pretty street, but she is rich. She is rich because she is a child of God, and God owns the whole world. The kids on Susie's block are not very kind. Some of them are rough and not always clean. They do not always use good language.

The members of Susie's family always keep themselves and their house very clean. Their conversation is gentle and clean, too. Susie does not think that she is better than the other kids. Her parents have taught Susie about Jesus by their words and actions. They have taught her that her neighbors need Jesus, too.

Susie loves Jesus so much that it spills over in love for others. She shows them she is their friend by being cheerful and kind to them. She talks about Jesus as if He were one of her family. She doesn't "preach" and tell the kids how bad they are. No, she talks about how good God is. She shares her mother's yummy oatmeal cookies. She is a good sport when they play games.

Susie asked two neighbor girls to go to Sunday school with her. They were all dressed up and waiting when Susie's family came by to get them.

The two neighbor girls were called Vera and Amy. They were excited to go to Sunday school, but they did not know what happens at Sunday school. It was their first time to join Sunday school with Susie.

“Let’s go!” Susie said, and they went into the car and drove. Later on they arrived and went inside the classroom where the teacher was. The teacher talked about witnessing for Jesus and how we can tell others about Jesus. The two girls were confused. They did not know a lot about Jesus. They found out, after lots of questions, that “Jesus” is the Savior promised long ago by God. They did not fully believe it. After class, they went to eat lunch together. Vera and Amy asked a lot during lunch.

“Susie,” Vera said, “this Jesus is the Son of God, right? How does that happen if God is far away in heaven?” Susie smiled and said, “Long ago God sent a message to Jesus’ mother, Mary. Jesus was born to Mary and her human husband Joseph. God actually sent Mary and Joseph messenger angels to tell them!” Vera and Amy liked the fact that an angel visited Mary. “But the teacher said that Jesus is the Savior,” Amy thought. Susie turned excited. “Did you know that the birth of Jesus or a Savior was written in the Bible around 700 years before Jesus died?” The neighbor girls were amazed. “Susie, can I ask about witnessing? Doesn’t it mean telling others about the “Good News”? what is the Good News?” Susie replied, “I actually want to share to you the Good News. It is that God loves us and He sent His Son to help us get to Him! When we let Jesus into our lives He changes us. Jesus is actually preparing a place for us in Heaven,” Susie happily said. Susie told them to try reading the Bible. Everyday after that, they soon knew about God and they were thankful to Susie for telling them about God. Vera and Amy learned how to change themselves for God and they became better people. They also witnessed for God and told about the Good News to the new people they met.
